Copy.

Sir,

Enclosure No. 7.

C.R.C.C.2784(CE).

Headquarters,

China Command, Hong Kong,

27th March, 1934.

64

Wellington Barracks W.D.Lot No. 5. Victoria Cantonment W. D. Lot No. 6.

With reference to your letter L.O.No.123/1934 dated

17th March, 1934.

Instructions have been received from the

War Office that, as the Colonial Government do not accept the Army Council's contention that on surrendering Colonial Military Land to the Colonial Government Cash should be paid for the value of buildings erected from Army Funds and for the unexpired value of leases on which Army Funds have been spent, the Memoranda in question must remain in draft form

for the present.

In this connection I would refer you to paragraph

8 of Enclosure No.1 of the Colonial Military Land Circulars. Enclosure No. 2 appears to refer only to land and buildings of which the War Department have been granted the right of perpetual user and not to the property for which Cash payments from Army Funds have been made.

I have, &c.,

The Land Officer,

Land Office, Courts of Justice,

Hong Kong.

(sd.) S.

S. Boyd,

Colonel,

Chief Engineer,

China Command.
